A Cluster Trial

A new publication in JAMA Online shares the effectiveness of an intervention that used harm reduction principles with an aim to increase both HIV testing and treatment options for people who inject drugs.

The intervention, funded by NIDA, was called Bridge, and was the first of its kind completed in Kazakhstan.  Bridge ran from 2017 - 2021.

To commemorate both this publication and World AIDS Day, our director University Professor Nabila El-Bassel shared her reflections about this publication in a Columbia News post: "What a Study in Kazakhstan Teaches Us About HIV & AIDS."
