Welcoming TechMPower Project Director Brandon Morrissey

April 13, 2026

TechMPower's new project director, Brandon Morrissey, is a policy-oriented researcher and sociologist whose work focuses on how institutional design shapes equity, accountability, and outcomes in criminal-legal systems. He holds a J.D. from Rutgers Law School, where he concentrated in criminal law and procedure, and is completing a Ph.D. in Sociology at North Carolina State University. Brandon has over nine years of experience conducting research on criminal-legal institutions and more than four years of applied work in partnership with state and local governments. His research interests include indigent defense systems, the criminalization of drug use, criminal-legal responses to behavioral health issues, and municipal policy.

"I’m excited by the opportunity to work with a team dedicated to improving health outcomes for all, especially for individuals transitioning out of the criminal-legal system," Brandon said about joining the TechmPower team.

Welcome to SIG, Brandon!
