SIG would like to welcome Dr. Andrea Norcini Pala to the team!
Dr. Norcini Pala is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Social Intervention Group (SIG). He received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Milano-Bicocca University (Milan, Italy) and an MS in Developmental Psychology from the University of Parma (Parma, Italy).
Dr. Norcini Pala worked as a clinical psychologist in the Infectious Diseases Institute of Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna (Italy). Between 2014 and 2016, Andrea worked with Drs. Myrna Weissman and Milton Wainberg, Columbia University Medical Campus/New York Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI). From 2016 to November 2018, Dr. Norcini Pala was part of the T32 Fellowship at the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies, Columbia University Medical Campus / NYSPI, and adjunct lecturer of psychometrics at Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University.
Dr. Norcini Pala says, of his work at SIG:
I aim to create solid collaborations leveraging my expertise in quantitative methods. My goal is to establish an inter-disciplinary (e.g., biopsychosocial) multi-method (e.g., laboratory paradigm, quantitative and qualitative methods) research program. I will seek out to develop expertise in the field of interventions focusing on the opioid epidemic and reduce the negative effects of intersectional stigma on health outcomes among HIV-positive populations.
