Bio

Mara Flynn is a master’s student at Columbia University School of Social Work. Her first-year practicums were with PS63X in the Bronx and with the Center for Partnership Systems. At PS63X, she collaborated with students and families in transitional housing. At the Center for Partnership Systems, she applied founder Dr. Riane Eisler’s cultural transformation theory to develop concepts for accelerating the transformation to a more partnership-oriented world using social work tools. 

Before attending CSSW, she worked in consumer public relations where she specialized in leveraging the everyday zeitgeist of the contemporary news cycle to help her clients achieve long-term goals. Mara is also a copy editor and on the Board of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Partnership Systems and holds a dual BA in Hispanic Language & Literature and International Relations from Boston University. She is part of the Recovery for the Revolution substance use disorder support community, as well as a volunteer at Westside Campaign Against Hunger. She is the proud parent of Walter (human), Patrice (canine), Phoebe and George (felines).
