Bio

Brandon Morrissey is a policy-oriented researcher and sociologist whose work focuses on how institutional design shapes equity, accountability, and outcomes in criminal-legal systems. He holds a J.D. from Rutgers Law School, where he concentrated in criminal law and procedure, and is completing a Ph.D. in Sociology at North Carolina State University. Brandon has over nine years of experience conducting research on criminal-legal institutions and more than four years of applied work in partnership with state and local governments. His research interests include indigent defense systems, the criminalization of drug use, criminal-legal responses to behavioral health issues, and municipal policy.
