About the Event
Timothy Hunt (bio) is a researcher and clinician with our School’s Social Intervention Group, where he plays a leadership role in the newly formed Center for Healing of Opioid and Other Substance Use Disorders-Enhancing Intervention, Development and Implementation (CHOSEN) and also serves as a co-investigator for the SIG-led HEALing Communities Study, which aims to reduce opioid-related deaths by 40 percent across 16 heavily affected New York State counties. His talk will focus on the challenges faced by those who work with populations with substance use disorders, particularly opioid use disorders, as the United States and the rest of the world contends with the spread of COVID-19. What happens when two public health epidemics—COVID-19 and opioids—collide? Hunt will outline some of the implementation science frameworks and strategies that have emerged as researchers look for data-informed, community solutions and adaptations to continue this important work.
