Bio

Ushna Azeem is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Social Work at Columbia School of Social Work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Women & Gender Studies from Stony Brook University.

From June 2024 to August 2024, Ms. Azeem served as a Graduate Fellow at the Council of Women World Leaders in Malta, at the office of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, former president of Malta, where she contributed to managing the Eurochild Conference and supported educational initiatives in collaboration with The Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society. Prior to this, she was a Housing Advocate at Sakhi for South Asian Women in New York, where she led case management services for over 20 survivors of domestic violence, focusing on stable housing solutions.

Since 2019, Ms. Azeem has been the Managing Director at Azeem Welfare Trust in Islamabad, Pakistan, which focuses on assisting widows and empowering them toward financial independence. She also founded and coordinates the Early Learning School, a non-profit institution for underprivileged children in Islamabad.

Ms. Azeem’s experience extends to flood-relief efforts in D.I. Khan, Pakistan, where she volunteered in 2023 to develop a school and clinic for a community affected by severe floods. Additionally, she has interned with organizations like Cities for Children in Islamabad and The Hunar Foundation in Karachi, focusing on child protection and vocational training.
