Bio
Ranggi is a Master of Social Work student at Columbia University, specializing in International Social Welfare and Services to Immigrants and Refugees. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare Studies from Universitas Indonesia and has since built a diverse and impactful career in social work.
Ranggi has accumulated extensive professional experience across various roles. As a Social Worker with Church World Service in Jakarta, Ranggi managed cases for unaccompanied refugee children, ensuring their safety and access to essential services. He further contributed to refugee care and community development through his work with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tanjung Pinang and Batam, Indonesia, focusing on project administration, volunteer training, and social cohesion.
For his previous generalist practicum, Ranggi worked as a Social Work Intern with Legal Services NYC, supporting Spanish-speaking immigrants and addressing issues such as domestic violence, trafficking, and persecution. Currently, he is engaged in a research internship with the United Nations in Geneva, where he is reviewing policies and practices to prevent and respond to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) across several UN bodies.
Ranggi is excited to begin his specialized practicum with the Social Intervention Group at Columbia University under the Uzbekistan-Columbia Centre for Advancing Community Strengths and Social Wellbeing (UCC-ACSSW). This opportunity aligns with his commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable populations both locally and globally, particularly for forcibly displaced communities such as asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants.
