Bio
Meghna Singh (she/her) is a dual-degree masters candidate at the Columbia University School of Social Work and Mailman School of Public Health. Her research interests combine mental health promotion and addressing substance use with a harm reduction lens. Meghna is a research assistant with the TechMPower Study, a pilot program addressing HIV and substance use disorder (SUD) among criminal-legal system involved people. She is excited to support the implementation of evidence-based practices in jails to increase screening and health education amongst participants and decrease stigma associated with HIV and SUD within jail settings and the broader community.
Before starting at Columbia in Fall 2024, Meghna worked as a substance use navigator at a county hospital in San Mateo, California – she connected patients to detox programs, outpatient and residential treatment facilities, medications for assisted treatment to lower cravings and withdrawal symptoms, and harm reduction supplies. She graduated with a B.A. in Community and Global Public Health from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with minors in education and Spanish in May 2023. Meghna has been a passionate advocate for mental health promotion and suicide prevention since 2014 and hopes to continue to address behavioral health at both the micro and macro levels of intervention.
