Bio

Imam is a Master of Social Work student at Columbia University on the Leadership, Management, and Entrepreneurship track with a Contemporary Social Issues specialization. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Studies from Universitas Gadjah Mada where he is involved in many community-based tourism projects that led him into a Social Work and development practices world.

Imam has accumulated extensive professional experience across various roles. He was a Senior Coordinator for Delterra, a non-profit organization in Bali in reforming the waste management system, where Imam is leading training and capability building for the community and stakeholders such as waste workers, local government, and policy-makers in an effort to advocate policy change.

For his previous generalist practicum, Imam worked as a Social Work Intern with Hit The Books, an after-school program based in Harlem where Imam is helping the program director run a personalized data-driven education program for the students.

Imam is excited to begin his specialized practicum with the Social Intervention Group at Columbia University for TecMPower research. Imam will contribute to developing an evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation design aimed at improving the health and well-being of incarcerated individuals who could benefit from HIV prevention and treatment, as well as those with substance use disorders (SUD) through tech-mediated EBP service delivery within jails, coupled with peer-delivered linkages to community-based care.
